줄거리

계해년이 다 저물어가는 어느 날 사내는, 벽장 구석진 곳에 두었던 3년 전에 죽은 아내의 유골을 꺼내든다. 그는 유골을 뿌릴 곳을 물색하기 위해 막연히 떠난 동해에서, 문득 맞닥뜨린 바다에의 충동으로 ‘물치’라는 곳에 내린다. 여행 중 우연히 만나게 된 사람들과의 대화, 흐르는 듯한 풍경들이 사내의 머릿속에 각인된, 지나간 기억들과 환영들을 상기시킨다. 사내는 사흘 동안 죽은 아내의 환영을 따라 낯선 고장을 마치 운명의 여로를 밟듯 떠돌아 다닌다.

One day in December, the man takes out from the closet the remains of his wife who died three years ago. He goes on a trip to spread the remains and reaches a town called Mul-chi on the east coast. The conversations with people whom he meets in the journey and the landscapes remind him of his past. He wanders the strange town following the phantom of his dead wife, as if following his destiny.
